The u14 squad made their way to a frosty Queen’s college on Sunday morning. After a short delay as the sun melted the frosty pitch the Bridgwater team played 5 games. The first game against Taunton CS saw them settle into their positions and keep the Home team at bay finishing in 0-0. Will T , Olly McK and Alfie linked well in defence with Alicia, Poppy, Jorja and Sasha pressing in attack.
After a rest the squad were up against ‘Yeovil mixed’ the strongest team in the section who were confident after winning their first game with several goals. However, the Bridgwater team upped their pace and after a few battles in midfield a strong pass from Will found Poppy whose determination with Alicia brought a goal. Yeovil looked a little shocked and now drove hard into the Bridgwater D peppering the goal with strong shots. Fred in goal was more than a match and confidently blocked their shots. The the last few minutes saw both Sasha and Poppy get on the end of passes and trouble the Yeovil defenders. However, a quick break saw Yeovil claw back a goal with a strong shot that just sneaked in at the post, followed shortly by another .
At the end of the morning after games against Yeovil girls, Chard A and B the team had linked well together and shown skills in passing wider, strong marking , great saves along with great effort.
Well done everyone and Thanks to parents for their support and Joe and Bridget for coaching and umpiring. Next week sees the u12 squad play in their tournament at Chilton.
